Twenty-six awards for the Alfa 156

The success of the new Alfa 156 has been decreed by both the public, which has ordered over ninety thousand in just four months, and experts all over Europe, who have awarded the car no less then twenty-six prizes since its market launch on October 24, 1997.
Since being voted 1998 Car of the Year by an international jury of 56 journalists representing 21 countries, the Alfa 156 has won the corresponding national prize in Italy (Auto Europa-UIGA), Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Yugoslavia, Croatia, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia.
It has received prestigious design awards such as the "Trophée du design" in France, the "Best performance in styling" in Holland, the "European award of automotive design" in Belgium and the "Auto più bella del mondo" in Italy, as well as the "Technical innovation award" in Great Britain, the "Paul Pietsch Pries" in Germany and the "Coche innovador" in Spain for its technological innovation.
The most recent trophy, "Auto 1 1998" was awarded to the Alfa 156 by the representatives and readers of eleven countries which voted through the same number of European trade papers, including Auto Oggi for Italy. The Alfa 156 took first place in eight of these countries, as well as claiming the overall European title. The trophy was presented to Roberto Testore, the Managing Director of Fiat Auto, in Geneva at the recent international motor show.
