Alfa Romeo organised an extraordinary event at the "Misano World Circuit" in Rimini, Italy last night. The track is the stage of the sixth SBK Superbike World Championship 2011 appointment slated for 10-12 June. For the first time in history, the famous track in the Italian Romagna region played host to a gala dinner right on the starting grid, attended by more than 300 invitees including riders, journalists and sponsor executives. The event was made even more enthralling by a large number of musical and entertainment shows that illuminated the setting all evening long.

The gala dinner came to a close with a truly exceptional unplanned spectacle. Some of the guests had the chance to take a spin around the circuit in the light of Roman torches set up along the edges of the track on board the Official SBK 2011 Safety Car, the 170 HP Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde 1.4 MultiAir in the exclusive shade of 8C Competizione Red. It is the same vehicle that leads the SBK World Championship riders in every race to ensure enormous visibility as it involves track patrons as wells as the distribution network and their customers.

Having always been an icon of energy and dynamism, the Alfa Romeo MiTo confirms it is still the undisputed star of the most innovative and engrossing sports and music events. Without forgetting that the new 2011 range of Alfa Romeo MiTos underscores the dual sporty and elegant spirit of the "sportiest mini ever" with the introduction of important style and product innovations.

The organisation of this atmosphere-packed evening before the highly anticipated San Marino Grand Prix and, in more general terms, Alfa Romeo's sponsorship of the SBK 2011 World Championship as both Top Sponsor and Official Safety Car prove to be particularly in step with the sportsmanship values the brand states. In addition, Alfa Romeo will be on the track, in the warm up and before each race, including the competitions taking place as part of the World Superbike championship, namely Superstock 600 European Championship, Superstock 1000 FIM Cup and the Supersport World Championship.

The 2011 SBK Superbike World Championship is an event that involves 95 TV stations for a total of nearly 3500 programming hours throughout the sporting season, in addition to growing public participation both on the track (over 1 million participants) and at home (more than 2 billion viewers in 2010).
